Jaguar used cars like the X-Type were first brought to market in 2002. Jaguar decided it needed to be in the small luxury sedan segment and wanted to increase their overall worldwide sales. Jaguar saw how popular the BMW 3 Series and the Mercedes C-Class was doing with the public and knew they had to break into this area of the car market. Even thou in 2002 it was Jaguars bestselling vehicle worldwide, it could never reach Jaguars excepted
